SEE WHAT THIS CAR HAS UNDER THE HOOD
The Lamborghini Terzo Millennio (Italian for Third Millennium)is a futuristic electric concept car introduced by Italian automobile manufacturer Lamborghini and developed in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Lamborghini has created the world's first self-healing sports car. The Terzo Millennio, which translates as third millennium in Italian, has the ability to detect and repair cracks in its body work
The Terzo Millennio is planned to have a top speed of 218 MPH(351km/h) and will have 838 horsepower. But the 0-60 and 0-30 speeds for he car remain unknown. The car is in an odd aerodynamic shape.
How the car fixed itself
The Terzo Millennio, has the ability to detect and repair cracks in its body work. Using sensors the car can conduct its own health check to detect any damages and self-repair itself by filling the crack with nanotubes to prevent it from spreading
The V-12–powered hybrid makes 807 horsepower with combined thermal and electric power, including what Lamborghini claims is the world's first use of a supercapacitor in a hybrid. Lamborghini claims a zero-to-62-mph time of less than 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 218 mph.
ENERGY
The power source is electricity instead of gasoline. Electrical systems are extremelyf efficient, allowing kinetic energy to bee recovered to generate power. In order toexploit the opportunities offered by electric drivetrains, the battery system must be symmetrical and oriented toward power inorder to ensure high levels of performance and the greatest possible level of energyregeneration. Lamborghini aims to develop an innovative supercapacitor that is able to fillthe gap, in terms of energy density, with existing batteries
MATERIALS INNOVATION
The design objectives include a reduction in
weight and an increase in the availability of
electrical energy through the use of
composite structural materials for storing
electricity, such as a rechargeable battery.
The goal is to perfect nanomaterial technology, distributing nano charges into the CFK panels that comprise the vehicle's body and components, which will therefore act as electrical storage devices.
Horsepower
The limited edition hybrid hypercar will feature an electric motor at the front wheels and the Italian auto manufacturer's 6.5-liter V12 engine at the rear axle. Working in unison, the car is rumored to have a combined output of 838 horsepower (625 kilowatts).
SOUND AND EMOTION
The adoption of an electric drivetrain
demands the creation of a new sonic
signature to replace that of the current V12
engine. Thorough investigation is required to
assess the advantages deriving from the new
powertrain, while leaving behind no
opportunity to generate a voice unique to the
Terzo Millennio. The visionary design is the
fullest expression of a completely new
technology, incorporating redesigned
aerodynamics, architecture and powertrain.
VEHICLE ARCHITECTURE AND POWERTRAIN
Among the advantages of an electrical propulsion system is the possibility to power a system of electrical components through the use of cables. Lamborghini intends to
exploit this opportunity to generate torque
directly at the wheels. The challenge consists
of creating a technology that allows the
power density positioned inside the wheels to
be increased to the level required by an all
wheel-drive super sports car, while
simultaneously keeping unsprung mass
under control.
Price
Today it is part of Volkswagen AG, and its cars start at around $200,000. There is neither price guidance nor a timeline on the Terzo Millennio
